Surprise yourself

There’s more to The Comfy Duck than the awards we’ve won, the local, seasonal produce we source daily and the distinctive dishes we’re famous for. There’s a real sense of excitement every time we open our doors. We love what we do – and you can tell. We’re trying to create something truly unique and every member of our close-knit team is proud to be a part of it.

So please join us for special occasions, impromptu pick-me-ups or for no reason at all – and you’ll soon see what all the fuss is about.

Meet the Team

Steven Bennett

Chef Patron

I’m proud to have been at The Comfy Duck for 4 years and became a director early this year – you might also know me as The Lincolnshire Chef. I love it here because I get to work with some amazing Lincolnshire suppliers and thrive off the challenge of incorporating their ingredients into my new menus each month. Running a restaurant isn’t just about pushing your own boundaries and skills to a new level, I believe it’s also about understanding our customers and our team, and their relationship with the food we’re serving.

Jeff Jafari

Restaurant Manager

I’ve only been here for 3 years but I’ve worked alongside Steve for almost 20 – it’s like we’re family. I love meeting new customers and welcoming old faces, and making sure everyone has a great time when they’re with us. When our customers are happy, I’m happy – and those who know me, know I’m always happy. I really look forward to trying Steve’s new creations, it’s amazing what he can do and we all take pride knowing how much is sourced locally.

Anthony Cron

Head Chef

I’ve only been here a few months but I already feel right at home. The team are great and surprise me every day. I love how varied my days are, from getting creative in the kitchen to working closely with our local suppliers. No two days are the same. I’ve been a chef for 23 years and have worked in a number of 5-star hotels, but I’ve never felt as settled as I do here – it’s like one big happy family.

Danny Hales

Pastry Chef

I’ve worked with Steve for 10 years, and being here is like one big happy family. We’re all so committed and are constantly pushing our creativity. We’re always looking for new inspirations to impress our customers and I love playing with unexpected, distinctive flavours when we’re designing new dishes – it gives me a chance to show off my artistic side.

Marc Harvey

Senior Sous Chef

I just love coming to work, every day is different and I thrive off each day’s different challenges. I really enjoy pushing myself to the limit, constantly developing my skills and working with fresh new ingredients – and it’s all the more rewarding knowing that almost everything is sourced locally. I’ve been a chef since I left college at 16 and have loved every job I’ve had – but nowhere compares to the friendly, working environment I’ve enjoyed here for the last year and a half.

Kay Atmore

I’ve been a chef for 15 years but I’ve never worked anywhere that runs as smoothly as here – it’s like a well-oiled machine, and that’s because we all get on so well. The last 6 or so years here have been so much fun, I get to bake bread all the time, which I love, and there’s always a tasty new dish or fresh local ingredient to try. You never quite know what’s going to come out of the kitchen, and I’m proud to be a part of the magic.

Scott Underwood

Operations Manager

My favourite bits of my job are getting to know our regular corporate guests, ensuring the hotel runs smoothly and sampling all of the new food that comes out of the kitchen – I’ll let you guess which I like best. Over the 4 years I’ve been here, I have to say my absolute favourite dish is the Lincolnshire Haslet – it’s a local classic and no one else’s even comes close.

  • Crab & Mac

    05 Oct 2016

Macaroni cheese has to be one of the ultimate comfort foods. There’s nothing more delicious than a creamy pasta dish, oozing with cheese. I’ve given this a ‘chefy’ twist and added some local grimsby crab, that’s been cooked and picked. It’s quite a unique flavour, so add as much or as little crab as you like!   ...
