There’s a real sense of excitement every time we open our doors. We love what we do – and you can tell. We’re trying to create something truly unique and every member of our close-knit team is proud to be a part of it.

Meet the Team

Barry Flint

General Manager

Grimsby born, Barry has worked locally recently but has enjoyed managerial stints in Manchester, Nottingham and Cambridge to name a few.  In recent years however his heart has always been with the Oaklands and he has some great plans for the future of the hotel, we’ll keep you posted!

Scott Underwood

Director

Growing up in his parent’s hotel on Skegness seafront, Scott started working in the hospitality industry from a very young age, waiting tables and washing pots. By the time he was 18 he also had Reception, Bar and Kitchen experience behind him.
He then spent 3 years at the University of Leicester following his beloved Leicester City Football Club home and away whilst also achieving a 2:1 in History.
With his history degree in the past, he joined the Oaklands fresh out of University in June 2013 mainly working Reception and Accounts.
Over the next few years, Scott worked his way through the ranks of the hotel before leaving his position of Operations Manager in February 2017 only to return to the hotel in May 2017 in order to push the hotel forward in light of the changes the hotel was undergoing at the time.

Ben Leeming

Banqueting Manager

Ben Leeming joins us as Banqueting Manager. Ben began his career with us here at the Oaklands before going off and gaining experience from some other great hotels in North East Lincolnshire. Ben now re-joins us with his reputation as one of the best Master of Ceremonies in the area preceding him. During his spare time, Ben enjoys spending time with his children.

Chris Dearing

Food & Beverage Manager

Chris Dearing joins us as Food & Beverage Manager bringing with him a wealth of experience from his years in hospitality around the Humberside region. When he isn’t with us here at the hotel striving to drive the hotel & restaurant standards forward, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Sharon and his children as well as following his beloved Hull City Football Club.

Chris Davey

Head Chef

We are thrilled that Chris has joined us, bringing with him a wealth of experience from across the world including much of Europe and New Zealand.  Most recently Chris has spent 8 years working in Leeds with many top named chefs including Michelin starred chef Jon Bentham who has been a particular inspiration.  He now joins us in his beloved Lincolnshire to show our guests what he has learned along the way!

Front of House

Meet 2 of our front of house team, Carla and Becky.
Carla is one of our Receptionists and joined the hotel around 8 months ago. In that time she has become an important member of the reception team. In her spare time Carla likes to spend time with her children and fiance and is getting married next year, right here at the hotel! Becky is Reception Supervisor and has worked at the hotel for over 4 years. She started in our restaurant,  worked on functions then moved departments to Reception. They are both highly valued members of the team and the faces you will see when you visit us so make sure to say hi!
